This Snell Isle job combined two items from a homeowner's list. Outside, they wanted a pair of heavy timber posts at the front walk to hold a house number plaque and lighting. Inside, the wall below a bedroom window had been opened to fix a leak and was left as bare block.
We set two pressure-treated timber posts in concrete, cut and finished on site with sawhorses on the lawn, then rebuilt the wall under the window with furring, moisture-resistant board, joint compound and paint matched to the room.
Project goals
Both parts of the job had to look finished and permanent, not like a quick fix.
set-in-concrete posts
Posts were plumbed, braced and set in concrete footings for a solid entry feature.
wall rebuild
The opened wall was furred, boarded, finished and painted to match the room.
Project challenges
The window wall needed to be checked for moisture before closing it up, and the posts had to line up with the walkway and the house.
- confirming the leak repair was dry
- framing furring strips on concrete block
- aligning posts with the front walkway
- protecting the lawn and landscaping
The result
The homeowner got a clean, finished bedroom wall and a striking entry feature, completed over two visits. Planning something similar? Read more about our Drywall Repair service or request a free estimate.
