Our drywall repair service patches doorknob holes, cracked seams, nail pops, water-stained ceilings and wall sections opened up by a plumber or electrician. We cut back to solid material, install new drywall with proper backing, tape and mud in thin coats, then match the existing texture and paint so the patch disappears.
Texture matching is where most patches go wrong. St. Petersburg homes have everything from smooth plaster in 1920s bungalows to knockdown and orange-peel finishes in newer houses. We match the texture on scrap board first, then apply it to the wall, so you do not end up with a smooth square in the middle of a textured ceiling.
Fix the cause before the patch
A water stain on a ceiling means water came from somewhere: a roof leak, an AC drain line, a bathroom above. We check that the area is dry with a moisture meter and ask you to confirm the leak was fixed before we close it up. Patching over wet drywall only traps mold.

What a finished drywall repair includes
Our goal is a repair you cannot find a month later. Every drywall job includes:
- cutting back to solid drywall and adding backing
- tape and three thin coats of joint compound
- texture matched to the surrounding wall or ceiling
- stain-blocking primer and paint to the nearest corner
Plaster walls in older St. Pete homes
Many homes in neighborhoods like Old Northeast and Kenwood still have original lath-and-plaster walls. We repair cracks and holes in plaster with bonding agents and setting compounds, or patch with drywall shimmed flush to the plaster where that makes more sense.
If plaster is crumbling from long-term moisture, we will tell you honestly whether patching is worth it or whether a section should be opened and rebuilt.

We check the damage, confirm the area is dry and agree on how far to paint.
02. Patch and finish
New drywall is installed, taped and finished in thin coats with drying time between.
03. Texture and paint
Texture is matched, primed and painted, and dust is cleaned up as we go.
Drywall Repair FAQs
Small holes and nail pops usually run $150 to $300 for the visit. Larger patches or water-damaged ceilings range from $350 to $900 including texture and paint.
Yes. We match orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel and smooth finishes, and test the texture on a scrap piece before applying it to your wall.
Most patches need two short visits, because joint compound and texture have to dry before painting. Small repairs can sometimes be done in one day with quick-set compound.
We patch popcorn ceilings and can remove it from single rooms. Ceilings in homes built before 1980 should be tested for asbestos before any scraping.
